What?

Housing for All: Affordability without barriers is an initiative of the Projet Impact Collectif (PIC), a major step forward for community development and the development of structural responses to complex and urgent social issues.

Through the first phase of the PIC, Housing for All: West Island Workshops, we mobilized our community into action through small-scale solutions and we want to build on this momentum into the second phase to address the need for community housing in a systemic way.

Through this second phase of the PIC, we are collectively addressing the systemic barriers to the development of affordable housing in the West Island. We are partnering with local community groups who are developing affordable housing to tackle the barriers they are facing using a systemic approach. This will have a positive impact on the feasibility of the chosen projects, as well as on future housing opportunities.

Why?

To dismantle barriers to affordable housing and ultimately increase the stock of community housing to meet the needs of residents of the southern West Island.

Did you know: As of 2021, 35.5% of renters and 11.5% of homeowners are spending 30% or more of their income on housing in the southern West Island.

As part of PIC 1, we started releasing a monthly newsletter with updates on the project, recent housing news at the local, regional and national level, an educational section to explain more complex housing topics, and more! We have nearly 1000 subscribers and this newsletter continues to be released as part of PIC 2. Click below to subscribe!
