The West Island is a food desert! This means that residents have limited access to fresh produce within walking distance. Living in a food desert is especially difficult for the vulnerable population.
In collaboration with our community partners and with funding from the department of Public Health, the TQSOI has lauched the “Let’s Talk Food” survey. This study is designed to gather information about the needs of Pointe-Claire residents when it comes to fresh fruits and vegetables and the needs of organizations and schools who provide food services to residents. This will help us improve our understanding of your experiences and challenges to accessing fresh fruits and vegetables.
What are the benefits?
- Make your voice heard! Your insight will contribute to building an action plan for improving access to fresh fruits and vegetables in Pointe-Claire. It will also inspire the development of innovative services that are adapted to your preferences and needs. Let’s build solutions together!
- Help us to put the West Island ‘’on the map’’ for researchers who are studying food insecurity across the Island of Montreal. Your information will be crucial for understanding the needs of Pointe-Claire residents and comparing them to the needs of the wider Montreal area.
- Enter to win one of four $25 gift certificates to Metro grocery store.
Survey duration: January 7 to February 28, 2019.
